ABOUT

About

Adam Mulford, DOMT, BKin

Adam's education includes a Bachelor of Human Kinetics (BHK) in Exercise Science with a minor in early childhood development and sports nutrition from the University of British Colombia and a post-graduate degree in Osteopathy Manual Practice (DOMP) from the Manual Osteopathic College of Canada. This
program is recognized by the World Health Organization and is followed by a clinical research year and thesis defense.

Currently Adam is attending UBC to further his research in neurophysiology, specifically trying to identify non-pharmaceutical treatment methods to manage ADHD symptoms in children. Please click here for current and past projects.

Adam is a education facilitator and instructor at the Manual Osteopathic College of Canada, bringing up the new generation of practitioners. He is also part of the professional practice committee with the British Colombia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK), working on improving education for university students to better prepare them for clinical practice. Adam is also a part of groups within the BCAK promoting kinesiology to insurance providers.

Adam has always been involved in fitness from a young up-and-coming athlete, to a highly competitive one and now a self-proclaimed Weekend Warrior. He has used his sports experience in hockey, lacrosse
and skiing to train athletes in these areas at a highly competitive level. Adam has also trained national level track athletes and personally qualified for 'World's Toughest Mudder'.

After years of training athletes and participating in sport he noticed a significant gap in treatments. Almost all therapists treated the presenting injury and never looked at the whole picture. This was not only common for his athletes, but for all of the individuals he saw, both young and old.

Adam decided to add to his 14 years of kinesiology experience to see if there was a way to treat individuals the same way he rehabilitated his clients, through a whole body approach. This is how he discovered Osteopathic Therapy.

Manual Osteopathic Therapy creates balance in all the body by using many specialized advanced manipulations of the fascia, bone, joints, cranium, and organs, in short, all of the body’s structures. Manual Osteopathy has been well known and trusted in Europe for many years but is relatively new to Vancouver.

With all of the experience gathered over the years and due to close family members suffering from specific dysfunction, Adam has developed a special interest in the following areas:

Visceral Treatment and cranial manipulation

  • Focus on pre/post-natal pelvic dysfunction

  • Menstrual cramps and associated symptoms

  • Male/female reproductive organ treatment

    • Ovary, uterus, testis, prostrate

  • Anxiety/depression

  • Neural dysfunction
